Day 1 (Day of Procedure)
Immediately after, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 5 minutes for the full day until oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph. Sometimes the lips can bruise even after the procedure. Bruising will subside within 24 hours post procedure. Apply provided healing ointment as needed to keep lips moist. A cold compress can be applied to help with swelling if needed.
Night of procedure: very delicately wash the treated area with an unscented antibacterial soap, such as Cetaphil, and lukewarm or cool water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. With a qtip, apply a very thin layer of the provided healing ointment. Never apply ointment to damp or wet tattooed areas. Use a makeup wipe or washcloth for the rest of your face, avoiding the treated area.
Please be advised it is a good idea to brush your teeth with plain water ONLY for 72 hours and avoid using whitening toothpaste post treatment.
Day 2-10
Lips will feel swollen and very chapped after your treatment. Keep the skin moist at all times, do not let the lips dry out. Continue to apply ointment throughout the day. Again, DO NOT let the lips dry out.
During Day 1 to Day 10 (or until the scabs are gone)
*Please Avoid:
*DO NOT pick the dry lips.
*Do not apply anything besides the provided healing ointment (no Vaseline, antibiotic creams, Polysporin etc). Following the procedure, do not use creams that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin.
*Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water (through a straw is best).
*Keep your lips as clean as possible by blotting lips with a damp cotton round as needed (such as after eating).
*At about day 14-29, color “blooms” from within more and more each day. This is the process of the hydrating elements in the pigments being dispersed throughout the body and leaving natural pigment on the inside of the lip tissue.
*Lips heal in three stages: Too dark, Too light, Just right.
Full healing is complete within 4-6 weeks. After that, your final color and shape can be assessed and touched up if necessary. Often, even with proper care, clients may lose pigment in areas or heal unevenly. This is absolutely normal and is the reason why a perfecting session 6-8 weeks later is included.
